I am so excited you've decided to audition for the Desert Hills 2026-27 Chamber Singers & or Treble Singers! These groups are select vocalists who work hard to achieve amazing things, build friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime.​

​

Audition applications consist of a series of  5 steps. These steps MUST be completed before your audition date and time:  Links needed are provided at the bottom.

​Step 1 - Text @27audition to 81010 to get on Remind. ​

 

​Step 2 - Bring me a current picture of yourself and a copy of your school transcripts (a snapshot of this year's grades will do)  BEFORE your audition date and time.

​Step 3 - Sign up for your individual audition time (Link Below).​​

​​​Step 4 - ​​Fill out the online audition application (Link Below).

​​Step 5 - Print your Group Audition music (Link Below), or pick it up

from the DHMS or DHHS Choir room​​​​​​

 

It is your responsibility to be warmed-up prior to your auditions. 

​

Auditions are held after school in the DHHS Choir Room. You pick the day and the time for your individual audition April 7-9.   Group auditions are Friday, April 10th, from 3:00-5:00pm. ​Both the individual and group audition are required to be considered for Treble or Chamber.

Individual audition:  Please prepare a 60-second vocal solo that showcases your talents. The Golden Age musicals, classical choral style music, a hymn,  or anthem ARE recommended song choices to perform.  Avoid singing pop, rock, county and "modern" Broadway musical songs. Karaoke style backtracks are permitted but not provided (bringing some kind of amplification device is recommended).  Piano accompaniment for your audition is highly encouraged (live or recorded), but also not provided.  Singing a cappella is allowed but is NOT the best option for your success.  

 

In addition to your song choice, Mr. Woolf will have you complete a very simple sight singing/rhythm exercise.  He will also test your your ability to match pitch, and vocal range. 

A short question-and-answer session will conclude your individual audition.

Group Audition: You are responsible to thoroughly learn and memorize your individual and group audition music.  Learn a group voice part (SATB) that compliments your vocal range.  The group audition will require applicants to sing the required group song in both a large and small group ensemble; you are never required to sing the group audition song alone.

Remember: This is an audition--be prepared, look nice, and do your best!
