All auditions will be held after school in the DHHS Choir Room. You pick the day and the time for your individual audition April 7-10. The High School Choirs group audition is on
Friday, April 11th, from 3:00-5:00pm.

The individual audition is required to be considered for any and all of these groups at the Middle School and the High School. In addition, the group audition for High School Choir applicants, is required to be considered for the High School groups.

For individual auditions, please prepare a 60-second vocal solo that showcases your talents. The Golden Age musicals, classical choral style music, a hymn or anthem ARE recommended song choices to perform. Avoid singing pop, rock, county and "modern" Broadway musical songs. K Karaoke style backtracks are strongly discouraged. Piano accompaniment is encouraged (live or recorded), but it is not provided; singing a cappella is acceptable. During auditions, Mr. Woolf will have you complete a very simple sight singing/rhythm passage. You will then be tested on your vocal range and ability to match pitch. A short question-and-answer period will follow.
It is your responsibility to be warmed-up prior to your audition.

You are also responsible to thoroughly learn and memorize your audition songs. This includes your solo and for all HS/MS audition and your voice part (SATB) High School Choir applicants. If you are currently in choir, learn your current voice part, or if not, you can ask Mr. Woolf what part you should learn. The group audition will require applicants to sing the required group music in both a large and small group ensemble, but you are never required to sing the group audition song alone. Practice tracks are located on this website under the "Practice" button.
Remember: This is an audition--be prepared, look nice and do your best!

Good Luck!
~ Mr. Woolf
